   ServSafe Starters® Food Handler Course                  

This course teaches the basic food safety practices that a food employee needs to know to handle food safely.  Among the topics presented are key aspects of food safety such as:

                    *Basic Food Safety Principles   *    Types of Food Safety Hazards    *   Personal Hygiene*        *Cross-contamination and Allergens      *      Time and Temperature Control      *      Cleaning and Sanitizing*                                                             *Job-Specific Guidelines   *   Thermometer Calibration*

The course topics are presented in a clear and interesting way to help each trainee learn the material, and a well-illustrated booklet is provided to each trainee as part of the course.  The training session takes approximately four hours.

A certificate is issued to the trainee upon completing the course and passing the test that is administered.

Please note that food establishment owners and managers are responsible for ensuring that food service employees receive the training specified by the local health department where the food establishment is located.  This course provides excellent food handler training where the local health department does not require a different course, such as its own or elsewhere.  The ServSafe Starters® Food Handler Course is also excellent as supplemental or refresher training.

It is highly recommended that food handlers have periodic refresher courses to help them maintain good practices.  

ProSystems EnviroHealth L.L.C. offers convenience with regard to course scheduling and the location for training.  Classes may be conducted on weekdays, weeknights and Saturdays.  Upon request, courses may be conducted at the client's food establishment location where a suitable teaching area is available.

The course fee is $65.00 per person.  Discounted group rates are available.  The course fee includes the cost of the training, course booklet (ServSafe Starters® Employee Guide, 5th Edition) and the certificate.
